If you’re a fan we don’t need to tell you why having Michelle Shocked play The Linda is such a coup. If you don’t know this multifaceted, extraordinarily talented, politically charged singer/song writer than you should. Sense her first album, 1986's "Texas Campfire Tapes (based on pirated recordings made by her fans) Ms. Shocked has stood out not only as a talent but as a force to be reckoned with. Ms. Shocked's songs have a roots-music, protest-song feel, with folk, rock and gospel influences. She has also explored other genres, including big-band music, and began singing gospel music in the 1990s. In fact, she still sings with a congregation in Los Angeles. Her current release, a trilogy of albums, is something most artists wouldn't even conceive of undertaking, let alone see it through. Together, the three albums are not only a remarkable artistic feat but also a testament to Michelle Shocked's vision and grit.
