Porter regards himself as a traditional landscape artist without being overtly figurative. He is renowned for his innovative use of paint that suggests nature itself, incorporating both the Glance and the Gaze. One can quickly scan the scene and in the next second look intently and discover some minute detail within the picture. One comes away with
