MIAMI VINYL: The History of Record-Making in Miami, Part III: The mid-1990s to Now May 3, 2012

The final installment of the series, "MIAMI VINYL: The History of Record-Making in Miami," is hosted by Lauren Reskin, owner of Sweat Records, and zooms in on the 1990s through the present era, examining the rise of local punk/rock, electronica and hip-hop in recent years, along with the remarkable resurgence of popular interest in vinyl records. From hip hop to abstract electronics to indie punk rock, Miami's current musical climate encompasses far more than what rises to the surface. Come learn about what got pressed on wax in South Florida and why over the last twenty-plus years. Following the panel discussion, stick around for a party led by guest DJ Maneuvers spinning the best of mid-90s to current Miami music, and check out The Record: Contemporary Art and Vinyl, and other works, on view in the galleries.
