Peter Tosh (1944-1987)
Peter Tosh was born into this world without a father or mother with the responsibility, or the time to raise young Peter. His aunt raised him, although Peter's personality would have you believe that he raised himself. An extremely self-reliant, self-dependent entity, Tosh fought for those who could not fight themselves. He was a voice for those who had not the means, nor the ability to speak to a worldwide audience. While those with power on the island of Jamaica saw Peter as a threat to the existing regime (A regime comprised of corrupt 'politricksters' who ally with Jamaica's small, wealthy, land owning class), the people saw Peter as a rebel hero. A champion of human rights, throughout his life Peter fought against the vampires and the duppies and all evil spirits, the spirits, which Peter himself feared more than anything. Peter Tosh was a saint. Not a saint in the conventional, religious definition, but insofar as that he was put on this earth with a purpose. He was to expose the filth and corruption and expunge the wickedness of the ghosts, which haunted him his entire life. Peter was a savior, sent to liberate the people of Jamaica, both physically and mentally.

Junior Reid

From his early days in the Waterhouse area of Kingston, Junior Reid was busy establishing himself as a singer of note with the group Voice of Progress. An early album for the Negus Roots label featured the track "Mini Bus Driver", and the Junior Reid sound was felt throughout the world. Interestingly enough, the Negus Roots label out of England was also responsible for first recording Don Carlos, also a Waterhouse singer and close associate of Junior Reid. Reid started turning out many hit, including, "Boom Shak-A-Lak" and "Foreign Mind". It was at this early peak of popularity when he was asked to sing lead for Black Uhuru (1985). Around 1991, Junior Reid set up the JR Recording Studio and record distribution plant in Kingston, Jamaica. A number of top Jamaican artist have recorded there, and Junior Reid has produced a good number of critically respected albums. From his humble beginnings in the ghetto of Waterhouse to the CEO of a major recording studio and record label, Junior Reid has accomplished a great deal on this short time on earth, and his future continues to look even brighter.
