Merkin Concert Hall Opening Night Celebration January 8, 2008

Celebrate the completion of the dramatic renovation of the Kaufman Center. The concert will feature Aaron Jay Kernis conducting soprano Heidi Grant Murphy and a host of star performers including Carol Wincenc and members of the Lark Chamber Artists (formerly Lark String Quartet) in Aaron Copland's masterpiece 'Music for the Theatre' as well as Kernis's own 'Simple Songs.' A new version of Ira Mowitz's Kol Aharon for solo violin, digital soundtrack, and mixed ensemble has been specially commissioned for the evening and will be performed by Face The Music. The Lucy Moses School Flute Faculty Ensemble will perform Margaret Lowe's Dawn Carol.
