“Those Vibrant Young People Are Dead”
“Mergence” Hits the Stage with local favorite “Mostly Bears”
at PLUSH Friday, April 22nd

On Friday April, 22nd the Tucson music scene has the rare opportunity to experience Mergence live. The Tempe based band unleashed their new CD entitled “Those Vibrant Young People Are Dead” in February 2011 to rave reviews. The albums emotion provoking sound and sensual rhythm weaves in and out of the listener’s consciousness bringing with it a presence and sense of passion to those who listen. The album “Those Vibrant Young People Are Dead” has garnered some pretty impressive accolades since its recent debut; The AZ Music Connect called the new CD “Absolutely Excellent”, “The music is so good, it’s almost intoxicating” they compared their sound to a “…fuller sounding Black Keys” and “…the vocals walk gracefully over the music,” while the College Times called it “Brilliant”, “Outstandingly sexy” and “next on the list to make it big.” Phoenix Music Beat Examiner called Mergence sound “hypnotic and flirtatious” with “singability.”

Mergence has commanded an army of vibrant fans along the way. The New Album “Those Vibrant Young People Are Dead” is a ballsy debut album taking you on a journey through life, love, sex, and death; so full of emotion it has moved people to tears. The Album was recorded mostly live (who does that anymore?) and produced by Bob Hoag and Mergence at Flying Blanket Recording. Mergence eclectic sound has something for everybody. Their new tune “Dynamite & Kerosene” has a modern indie-rock-pop sound with a contagious dance beat, where the song “Me and My Family Vs the Robots” has content, motivation, and originality. “The Road” has a traditional blues feel but with a modern vibe.

Brian Coughlin from “Kinch” gave it a couple spins and replied back with “Holy shit! Your record is killer!” Mergence is on a journey to somewhere, you just know it. Listening to this record is like leaving earth for a brief span of time and letting your soul grow just a little bit more than you thought you would. It takes you with them. It doesn’t ask for you to come, it just beams you up and shows you their universe. These four guys from Phoenix have a lot in store for the world if they keep making music like this.

The band consists of vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Adam Bruce, guitarist The Yod, Bassist Brandon Shupe and Drummer Jason Roedl. AZ Music Connect say’s “[It’s] an absolutely excellent contribution to the music of Arizona” and The College Times gave it an “A” rating.
