Would you like to properly dispose of that old mercury fever thermometer that may be stored in the back of your medicine cabinet or bathroom drawer?

The first 100 residents who bring in their mercury thermometers will receive a free, non-mercury containing fever thermometer in exchange (limited to one (1) per household). To avoid breakage and contamination, mercury fever thermometers MUST be contained in an unbreakable and closed container such as its original case, a plastic toothbrush holder, or a soda/water bottle with a screw-on cap. As a second measure of protection, the closed container must be placed in a sealable plastic bag (zip-lock is fine). Other mercury-containing products will not be accepted at this event. For more information call Environmental Outreach at (408) 730-7717.
