The Mendocino Art Center celebrates the Mendocino Coast's rich artistic tradition with "Artists of the Mendocino Coast," an exhibition showcasing the works of over 56 of the area's most accomplished artists, December 3 through January 3. The showing spotlights the creative works of a veritable who's who of local artists – painters, jewelers, fabric artists, photographers and woodworkers, and sculptors in many media – all of whom are featured in Mendocino Coast photographer Larry Wagner's beautiful, recently released photography book, "Artists of the Mendocino Coast, Volume Two."

Building off the success of Wagner's "Artists of the Mendocino Coast, Volume One," his "Volume Two" showcases portraits, biographies, artistic statements, and samples of the art of 56 more artists, illustrating the wealth of talent in this unique geographical area.

Portrait photographer Larry Wagner dreamt of sharing the dreams of artists who live in this paradise. With camera and a warmth of personality, Wagner captures the essence of his subjects and gives recognition to their work. "Doing Volume One was probably the most fun I have ever had on a project," Wagner said. "It was a thrill meeting the artists and bringing them together as a community. All the reinforcement and fulfillment convinced me that this was a good idea. I was struck by how many excellent artists we have and felt a strong desire to capture as many as I could for posterity so we would have a record of their talent. That led to Volume Two."

During December the Mendocino Art Center will also be showcasing the artwork of George Griffith in Gallery Ten; Gert Rasmussen's sculpture in his exhibit, "Wild Steel," in the Nichols Gallery; and a festive Holiday Emporium in the Abramson Gallery, featuring affordable gift items, including jewelry, fiber wearables, ceramics, wooden items, kitchenware, and more.
