Dualtone recording artists, Mellow Down Easy have been on the scene for the past 6 years. Although they keep a steady road schedule (175 shows in 2007 alone) and attract international attention via a strong web presence and international album sales, the Nashville, TN trio has not been able to achieve the respect and attention they deserve - that is not until recently.

The three piece indie-rock group's songs are a soulful mixture of guitar-driven, classic rock-flavored, Outlaw country-tinged, Blues-inspired music which is all tied together by a unique, highly original sound that is all of their own.

Mellow Down Easy's songs have gained interest by artists as diverse as the legendary Johnny Cash,
alt-country rocker Ryan Adams, George Jones, members of Lynyrd Skynyrd and rapper Young Buck from the popular hip-hop group, 'G-UNIT'. In 2006, guitarist Andrew Adkins was voted "Number 3 Best Local Songwriter" by Music City publication, The Nashville Scene, in their "Best of 2006 - Readers Poll" issue just underneath Marcus Hummon (Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans) and Nashville favorite Will Hoge. MDE bassist, Daryl Dasher spends his off-time touring with country artist, Ricky Lynn Gregg and 80's rock band TESLA singer, Jeff Keith.
One would think with all this work and praise an easy road to success would be the next step. Wrong! Throughout the years in Nashville Mellow Down Easy have attracted several different major labels and management - none of which were willing to let these eclectic musicians keep on doing what they do best. Suggestions of sticking to one certain style, abandoning their broad, versatile array of influence in exchange for a more one-dimensional, genre-confined, mainstream make-over just did not seem appealing enough for the group. "If we're going to forget what has taken us years to be able to do in exchange for making better money for doing something that we are not...we would just quit music and become accountants or bankers." says Adkins.

Mellow Down Easy's latest album, "COSMISUTRA" has already been getting a lot of critical attention, even before the official release. The San Fransico Chronicle hails the album as "a true gem in the face of modern music". British Music publication NME called the album "An Indie Rock Masterpiece". "After a couple attempts at capturing who we truly are on record, I think we finally got it with this album" exclaims Adkins (who also produced the album)."After years of trying to find our niche, I believe our niche finally found us!" The new album consists of elements from all across the board. You hear shades of influences in every song. From the abstract psychedelic Beatles come Dylan-esque "I Am The Universe" to the 70's punk-fueled "She Must Be Radioactive" every song has it's own unique flavor. "Yesterdays" could be an outtake from a modern Johnny Cash record, "Crazy & Wicked" brings a bit of old school soul to the table, whereas "Pure Gold" fuses a tight, funky groove with (if you can imagine) enough country overtones to make even their own Nashville peers envious.
