Meet a Hero - Pete McCloskey

Former Congressman Pete McCloskey has been a hero of the environment for five decades. He co-founded the first Earth Day, co-authored the 1973 Endangered Species Act, was one of the nation's first environmental lawyers, and represented the Bay Area's 11th Congressional District from 1969 to 1983.

Mark your calendars and invite your family and friends to be part of a major Chapter event at which we will honor Pete McCloskey with the Chapter's first Environmental Hero Award. We will then hear Pete McCloskey talk about his life on the cutting-edge of protecting the environment and the nation!

Saturday, October 2, 2010 : 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

Come hear Pete McCloskey's presentation on co-founding Earth Day and the state of the country when he co-authored the Endangered Species Act. Pete will update us on what he is currently doing and hold a question and answer session. For this special occasion, our master of ceremonies will be Emmy Award-winning former South Bay Bureau Chief-KGO TV newsman Rigo Chacon.

Help us demonstrate our appreciation for Pete McCloskey's life and public service by filling Carrington Hall, which is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a fitting site for this special Chapter event. Please come and join us as we celebrate the exceptional work of an environmental hero and share a few hours with a living environmental legend!
