Rob Lord, Songbird and music enthusiast http://www.songbird.com

A wee change in plans, this month we've decided to talk about mashups from a musical point of view. We're bringing in some pretty awesome DJs to demo, talk about what tools they use online to find, create, mashup, distribute and promote their music and what really irks them about the current state of the web.

Rob Lord will help tie this back to technology, the open media web and mashups online and how this can address some of this. Can you bring more suggestions to the table?

These meet-ups are intended to get people interested and working in the media web together to discuss what it means to be open. Those working on open protocols, methods and formats on the web are very welcome, too!

Is the focus of the meeting explicitly on "media mashups" (video and audio, for instance) -- or will the discussion also include "data mashups"? Any progress on who the speaker will be?

msrogue

Got the speakers up now! The focus is on music mashups this time around, but we will be covering data mashups in a future meetup.

Yep. We'll set it up. :)

Seems odd you don't have the Bootie people on the panel if you're dong a panel on (music) mash-ups.

msrogue

Who are the Bootie people? I'd love to have anyone who would be appropriate! Send them in!

Bootie = first and biggest mashup crew... A club night devoted to mashups. It started in SF and now happens in cities around the world...
