9750 Meadowlark Gardens Court,
Vienna, Virginia 22182

This lovely 100-acre garden, located in Vienna, Virginia., is one of the largest botanical gardens in Northern Virginia. Large varieties of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants have been planted there that are native to the Potomac River Valley region of Virginia. During September when we will be taking our fieldtrip some of the main features will be: roses, daisies, lilies, etc. Lake Lena also provides habitat for aquatic animals and birds. Several species of turtles, northern water snakes and native frogs inhabit the area. Many native fish and aquatic insects coexist with the plants. Wading birds frequent the lake. Great blue herons, green herons and black crowned night herons enjoy secretive hunting on the waters edge. A full assortment of perching birds enjoys the lake too. We can also visit a restored cabin, the ruins of old slave quarters and spring house. We will be arriving early, about sunrise, to shoot during the best light. Also we will have privledged access before the public are allowed to arrive. This is a great photography opportunity for all to enjoy. Don't miss this one. Arrival time is set for just before sunrise at 7AM to have the best morning light possible.
