The McGill Alumni Association of Boston invites graduates, family and friends to a special reception and lecture with Joe Schwarcz, BSc’69, PhD’74

“Brain Fuel”

Our brain is a complex machine and, like any other machine, it needs fuel. What feeds the human brain is knowledge and the more we can squeeze in, the better the machine works. In this presentation we will do some squeezing. We'll range far and wide, from insects to rockets, from dyes to drugs, from plastics to magic. Join us to be informed, entertained and have your brain fueled. We guarantee you’ll be smarter when it’s over!

Dr. Joe Schwarcz is Director of McGill University’s Office for Science and Society, which is dedicated to de-mystifying science for the public, the media and students. He is a professor in McGill’s Department of Chemistry and teaches nutrition and alternative medicine in the Faculty of Medicine. He has received numerous awards, including the Royal Society of Canada’s McNeil Award, given for promoting and communicating about science, and he is the only non-American to win the American Chemical Society’s prestigious Grady-Stack Award for Interpreting Chemistry for the Public. He is a familiar face on Canadian television and is known as "Dr. Joe" to legions of loyal radio listeners on CJAD in Montreal and CFRB in Toronto. He is also the author of half a dozen bestsellers, including "The Genie in the Bottle", "That’s the Way the Cookie Crumbles" and "An Apple a Day". His latest book, "Brain Fuel", was published in September by Doubleday Canada.
