The Celebration of Life Singers, a multicultural, secular choir, will perform at the Annual Garden Grove Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, November 15 at the Community Meeting Center. The keynote speaker will be Father Christopher Smith, Episcopal Vicar and Rector of the future Christ Cathedral, Diocese of Orange, with Community Spirit Awards being presented to Kiwanis Club of Greater Garden Grove and Garden Grove Evening Kiwanis. Registration and breakfast begin at 7:00 am with the program beginning at 7:30 am.

Father Smith has serves as priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese for 35 years. He holds a Masters in Divinity from St. John’s Seminary, of which he is a member of the Board of Directors, and a Masters in Religious Education from Fordham University. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Vatican II Institute, the Coordinator of Mission Education for Concern America, and Chairperson of the Editorial Council of The Orange County Catholic.

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Garden Grove and the Garden Grove Evening Kiwanis are being honored for their tireless efforts to improve the lives of children and families locally and globally. Some of the many community projects they support include; the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program, feeding hundreds of families in need at Thanksgiving, and granting free use of the iconic Kiwanisland to youth groups.

Celebration of Life Singers is an all-volunteer, non-profit group formed in 1997, which has become known for its inspirational concerts. They have performed for cancer survivors and patients, hospice patients, cancer professionals and other community groups whose members have been touched by the disease. The belief that music heals is the foundation of the Orange County based Celebration of Life Singers, the only choir in the country comprised entirely of cancer survivors and their support partners. Their mission is to bring members of the community who have triumphed over cancer together, to participate in a creative, uplifting, and fulfilling experience through the HEALING POWER OF MUSIC. COLS welcome any cancer survivor or family member/ friend who participated in their care to visit them during their Tuesday night rehearsals at 7 PM at St. Olaf's Lutheran Church at 12432 9th St, Garden Grove, CA 92840.
