Mayer Hawthorne is the pseudonym of singer, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Mayer Cohen, who is currently based in Los Angeles but grew up in suburban Detroit. The Motown roots of his upbringing are immediately apparent and the "retro soul" tag was quickly placed upon him after his independent debut, 'A Strange Arrangement,' was released. His most recent album, 'How Do You Do,' still has that smooth soul vibe, but also adds an intriguing flavor of California pop to the mix.
