Alt. Country singer/songwriter Matt Ellis is returning to Australian shores this February for an exclusive single-date performance in his hometown of Sydney. The American-based musician will be playing tracks new and old on his triumphant return home.

2007 saw the release of Tell The People in Australia amongst countless shows, including SXSW, an Australian Tour, international airplay and rave reviews. The coming months will see this restless talent release a new music video, launch his new site and continue touring his already acclaimed third album.
The 11 tracks on Tell The People attracted a brilliant line-up to the recording sessions which included Nels Cline (Wilco) and Tim Young (David Sylvian, The Youngs) on guitars, Greg Leisz (KD Lang, Beck, Joni Mitchell) on lap steel, pedal steel and mandolin, Tim Luntzel (Bright Eyes, Norah Jones, Emmylou Harris) on bass, Dave Palmer (Fiona Apple, AIR) on piano and rhodes and Branden Harper on drums.

After Matts previous Australian tour in July 07 he returned home to LA to find his track My Mistake had been added to the influential radio station Indie103.1fm. The track was featured on Christian B's show Head trip and part of his on-air ad campaign for the following 4 months.

Shortly after, Elliss track How Far To Go was chosen for the US TV pilot of Family Practice, written by Jeffrey Lieber, the creator of television hit, Lost. The track features prominently in the show, which stars Beau Bridges and Anne Archer. Many of Matt's tracks have also been picked up for popular online teen show, The Venice Walk, created by and staring Robert Hegyes. Go opens each webisode of The Venice Walk, now in it's second year.

Australia Day in NYC
Matt has been invited to perform in New York this Australia day at the latest Aussie addition to Manhattan The Australian Bar and Grill. Matt joins Nashville based, Aussie singer/songwriter Nat Howard on the special night from 8pm.

After Australia, what's next?
Ellis returns to LA early March with just enough time to do laundry before heading off to SxSW 2008, again performing at the Little Radio Party (www.littleradio.com). Editing is almost complete on a documentary filmed during the recording of Tell The People featuring Nels Cline, Greg Leisz and more, and will be released early 08 online.
Who the f*%$ is Matt Ellis?
Born in Sydney and raised in Hong Kong, Ellis has been based in Venice Beach, Los Angeles since August 2005. His debut album Peel quickly established him upon a global trajectory, with the album sitting in the top 10 on www.ninemsn.com.au for six weeks. The self-produced music video for the title track Peel quickly became a staple clip across Foxtels Music Country, MTV, Rage and Network Tens Ground Zero. The track was also added to rotation in South East Asia, but was soon banned after outraged viewers called in to complain that the clip, which featured Matt driving around Sydney blindfolded, incited reckless driving. The banning prompted an invitation from Channel [V] Asia for Matt to be interviewed and perform live at the station. Now with three full-length albums under his belt, Matt continues to ride the wave acclaim created in the wake of his music.
