The popular author of African-American fiction, Mary Monroe, will be reading and signing She Had It Coming at Barnes & Noble Eton, 28801 Chagrin Blvd, Woodmere, Ohio on Saturday, September 6 at 7 pm. This powerful and provocative book is due for release on September 1 and tells the story of a woman living two lives.

Mary Monroe struggled to become a writer. She was the third child of Alabama sharecroppers and the first and only member of her family to finish high school. She never attended any college or writing classes but taught herself to write from childhood on. She spent her early years in Alabama and Ohio and now lives in Oakland, California. She won the Oakland Pen Award for Best Fiction of the Year in 2001 for God Don’t Like Ugly. She won the Best Southern Author Award in 2004 for Gonna Lay Down My Burdens. She Had It Coming is her tenth novel.
