With eclectic music ranging from pop to Jazz and a world flavor in between, Mary Jenson is poised to release her second album at her CD Release Concert on February 1st, 2011. "Beyond" is full of rhythmic melodies inspired by the dream state, a human condition of vulnerability and wonder.

Joined on the Yoshi’s stage by special guests Grammy winning violinist Mads Tolling, guitarist José Neto, bassist Troy Lampkins, drummer/rapper Darian Gray, and pianist/producer Frank Martin, Mary and her stellar band of visionary players perform originals and contemporary covers reflecting the journey to Beyond.

Mary was raised in a large family of 8 children; growing up on various Air Force Bases from Germany to California. Classically trained but with a great love of jazz and contemporary music, Mary spent a few years on the Left Coast of California as a small market radio disc jockey, developing a love of music crossing genres and perspectives.

Settling in the Bay Area of Northern California, the influence of Jazz cannot be denied in Mary’s music as her residence there is a natural culmination of her musical journey. The vibrant music scene of the Bay Area made collaboration with outstanding musicians a reality for Mary and the making of the CD Beyond is a beautiful example of those associations.

Touting performances from Grammy winning violinist Mads Tolling to world renown percussionist Alex Acuña, bassist Ralphe Armstrong, and drummer Will Kennedy, this CD includes 4 originals co-written with Producer and Pianist Frank Martin. Contemporary covers of Tom Waits, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder and Joni Mitchell as well as three jazz standards complete the 2011 release.
