Artist Mary Galli presents an art opening reception for her latest showing. The free event is 21+. Please call 617-864-3278 x 237 for more information. Author and DJ Brian Coleman will be on-hand spinning records. Galli’s art will be on display at ZuZu between April 7 and May 3.

Says Galli, “For this particular art show I am using a new medium for me - experimenting with my own stencils, spray paint, and graffiti markers - influenced of course by graffiti/street art from around the world.”

Somerville resident Mary Galli is a painter and creator of three-dimensional artwork who often reinvents "found" objects with a keen trash-to-treasure sensibility. She has an enthusiasm for folk art, particularly Mexican, which clearly influences her work. Galli works in a variety of mediums, from found objects to papier-mache, acrylics, oils, and watercolors. It is unmistakable that in each one of her paintings, she is combining her love for art, music, and folklore.

Recent showings of Galli’s work included ‘Chickens, Sinners and Saints,’ and ‘Well Sung, Well Hung: Rock ‘n Roll Art’ at Sister Sorel in the South End. She also participated in the 2006 Cow Parade with her creation Moochas Gracias.
