Marvin Hamlisch, Pulitzer-Prize winning composer of A Chorus Line, creates, “State Theatre's Great American Songbook,” an original and unique Gala production in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the State Theatre. Hamlisch, a recipient of the Emmy®, Grammy®, Oscar®, and Tony®, along with three fabulous Broadway singers, and a 7-piece band, present American classics from the 1920s to today. Featured Broadway singers include Montego Glover (currently starring in the 2010 Tony® Award-winning musical, Memphis), Gary Mauer (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables), and Anne Runolfsson (The Phantom of the Opera, Victor/Victoria).
Songs ranging from musical theatre classics Babes in Arms, Finians Rainbow, Kismet, West Side Story, Man of La Mancha, and Hair, to Wicked, A Little Night Music, Dreamgirls, and The Phantom of the Opera, as well as a variety of popular standards from 1921 to today.
