WHO: Austin Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides educational programs and career development resources to artists. Their mission is to strengthen and connect the local music community through innovative programs that empower musicians and fuel Austin's creative economy.

For more than three decades, Martin Atkins has been at the cutting edge of where the entertainment industry is and where it's headed, whether through his work with Johnny Rotten's band Public Image Limited, playing with Nine Inch Nails, touring the world with his own band Pigface, or working with Beijing's emerging indie rock scene.

Martin is a producer, drummer, documentary filmmaker, DJ, professor (Madison Media Institute, Columbia College) and most recently started his own entrepreneurial school, Revolution Number Three. He has been organizing, booking and managing multi-band package tours for more than a decade.

WHAT: Austin Music Foundation welcomes speaker Martin Atkins, author of Tour Smart and Break the Band.
In discussing his definitive book on touring, Martin will not only share valuable insight into his methods on booking and touring, but also host a discussion of mistakes and failures, time-tested industry tips and techniques, how to market oneself as a musician, strategies for successful touring in the U.S., how to get more people to shows, why bands must book themselves and more.

Martin will answer audience questions and have signed copies of his book available for $20.00.

Immediately following the presentation, there will be a dual drum performance by Martin and local tribal drummer Bradley Bills of Chant.

This event is FREE to attend and open to the public.

WHEN: Wednesday, November 4 / 7:00 p.m.--9:30 p.m.

WHERE: Red 7 / 611 West 7th St. / Austin, TX 78701
