This fall, Branford Marsalis joins Philarmonia Brasileira as featured soloist in Marsalis Brasilianos. Marsalis is one of America's most versatile musicians, playing classical, jazz, funk and much more. The collaboration will feature the music of composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, and commemorates the 50th anniversary of his death. Philarmonia Brasileira was founded in 1994 by Gil Jardim, and has been acknowledged for its efforts to preserve the music of Villa-Lobos, including a reconstruction of the composer's 1924 Paris debut concert. Marsalis included a Villa-Lobos composition on his 1986 debut classical recording, Romances for Saxophone.
