MARIN THEATRE COMPANY’S WORDS & MUSIC SERIES KICKS OFF WITH ‘PORTRAIT OF AN AMERICAN SUMMER’ September 24, 2007

Marin Theatre Company’s highly praised ‘Words & Music’ series kicks off the new season with a melodious evening entitled “September Song: Portrait of an American Summer,” set in a time when the world was simpler and life moved at a gentler pace. Featuring Samuel Barber’s lush work Knoxville Summer of 1915, Paul Bowles’ Blue Mountain Ballads and George Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess and Three Preludes for Piano and Clarinet…the evening is intended to be an amalgam of the rich, rich sounds of summertime. “Portrait of an American Summer” is presented in conjunction with MTC’s Boyer Theatre production of Love Song, running September 6-30.
