The Center for Book & Paper Arts is pleased to present a 40-year collection of the ground-breaking hand papermaking works by the late Marilyn Sward titled, Speaking in Paper. Sward founded Paper Press Studio, which together with Artists Bookworks, became Columbia College Chicago’s Center for Book & Paper Arts.

Speaking in Paper features Sward’s extensive artworks that range from alternative photographic processes on handmade paper and extensive travel journals to the ongoing
collaborative project Treewhispers, a shared compilation of handmade paper, artwork, poetry, stories and other visual and written connections.

Speaking in Paper is curated by Sward’s Center for Book & Paper Arts colleague Audrey Niffenegger, with Pamela Paulsrud and Stephen DeSantis.
