March Corvallis .NET Users Group (CDNUG) Meeting:

Visual Studio Database Tools

Although the database tools have been around for a while they are not well leveraged. In 2008 Microsoft folded the database edition of Team System into the Developer edition reducing the licensing requirements for the tools making them easier to access. In 2010 Microsoft is pushing the database tools into ever lower editions of Visual Studio making the barrier to entry ever easier. Understanding the wide array of capabilities and features in the database tools can be a bit daunting. In this presentation Larry will start with an overview of the tools and then dive into the details as we explore the features and best practices of the Visual Studio database tools.

Larry Guger - Microsoft Team System MVP

Larry is a Canadian living in Portland to get away from winter. Larry has been building enterprise .NET applications since the beta days of .NET 1.0 and is passionate about quality software development tools and processes. He has been a consultant, trainer, presenter and developer. Larry works quite closely with the Visual Studio Product Group in Redmond to keep on top of the latest bits that Microsoft is working on. Larry was a contributor to the Microsoft Ranger’s Requirements Management Guidance and is currently working with the Microsoft Rangers to develop guidance for the architecture tools in Visual Studio 2010 as well as guidance on the database tools in Visual Studio.

Hope to see you there!
