38 King William Street
Hamilton, Ontario

The maracatu procession dances to the rhythm of its percussion. The soloist sings a song and the chorus answers with the refrain. The standard bearer presents the group to audiences. The drummers cut a path through the crowds and streets with revelers in tow. In the distance it seems as if thunder is approaching. Traditionally this is an Afro-Brazilian ritual from Recife, celebrating the coronation of African kings and Queens in the New World. In multi-cultural Toronto, we bring our deep grooves and festive vibe to the city streets.
