These two documentaries push the boundaries of preceding aesthetics to examine how environments determine the life within.
Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky specializes in large-scale images of seemingly beautiful but often-toxic industrial landscapes in, for example, China and Bangladesh.
Manufactured Landscapes' director Baichwal probes further, investigating how these environments are endured by their human inhabitants. (90 mins., 35mm)
Cleveland filmmaker Bruce Checefsky's Moment Musical, screening first, is a reconstruction of a lost, experimental Polish film from 1933. (6 mins., 16mm)
