As part of their Performing Arts series, Youth in Arts and Manding Jata presents Manding Empire Revealed. Come watch a dazzling display of strength, grace and acrobatics as Manding Jata presents the music, dance and oral traditions of the Mandé speaking people of West Africa. In Manding Empire Revealed, a carnival celebration in the fabled city of Timbuktu showcases the rich history of the Manding or Mali Empire. Audiences around the world have applauded Manding Jata’s dramatic drumming, dancing and acrobatics. Back this year by popular demand, Manding Jata is not to be missed!
Youth in Arts Performing Arts Series is a season of theatrical productions by professional touring groups specifically designed to be educational as well as entertaining. Performances are attended by children ranging in age from three to fourteen. The series features live performances of drama, world music, world dance, puppetry, musical theatre Shakespeare, storytelling and music of all kinds. The success of this popular series stages at Marin Center theatre is amplified by the participation of more than 25,000 children each year.
