Summary:

Transitioning to the NDIS isnt easy and, as we move further down the path, a range of challenges and complexities have come to light.

Description:

Making it happen

With the first stage of the NDIS commencing on July 1, disability service providers have made transitioning to self-directed approaches a top priority.
Other sectors are becoming interested in self-direction too; most notably the aged care sector.
But transitioning isn’t easy and, as we move further down the path, a range of challenges and complexities have come to light.
This conference will explore how these more challenging aspects can be managed. It will do this through a series of presentations from leading thinkers, consumers and progressive organisations.
You will learn:
The key ingredients of a successful transition
How to provide greater choice and control to people with cognitive impairment
How to maintain quality without directly managing staff
How to ensure workforce competency in the self-directed approach
How to thrive in the new consumer-driven market-place

Benefits of attending
+Gain further clarity on the NDIS
+Hear local & international best-practice
+Explore how to extend choice & control to all consumers
+Learn how to manage the workforce/staffing challenges

“The grounds for self-directed funding are strong. However, national implementation poses challenges.”
-Productivity Commission, Disability Care and Support, 31 July 2011.
