Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons Mamá Art Cafe presents it's on-going Free Music Program bringing some of the best neighborhood, bay-area and national acoustic artists to San Francisco's Excelsior District.
**** THURSDAY March 1 ****
"Fastpass" - http://fastpassband.com
The unplugged version of "Your friendly neighborhood indie rockers" lends itself
perfectly Mamá's welcoming acoustics. Well crafted songs executed well.
"Kazumichi" - http://www.myspace.com/mrhalfhair
The self-described "Mr. Half-hair" brings his guitar, wit, talent and hair-do (well,
half hair-do) back for another set. Kazumichi is truly a unique artist that should
not be missed.
Music Starts @ 8 pm. Admission Free!
**** SATURDAY AFTERNOON March 3 ****
"Milton Savaria" - http://www.myspace.com/miltonsaravia
A Mamá musical regular. Savaria is an amazing singer and musician who's talent
goes far beyond boleros and latin folkloric music. His sound and energy are barely
contained by the confines of Mamá.
Music Starts @ 2 pm. Admission Free!
**** THURSDAY March 8 ****
"Jake Troth" - http://www.myspace.com/jaketroth
Troth manages to fill the very large spaces between artists like Coldplay, Erykah Badu
and Simon and Garfunkel quite nicely with his lush style of song writing and performing.
"Dave Lionelli" - http://www.davelionelli.com
According to Lionelli "It all starts with the songs", but as anyone who's caught David's past
performances at Mamá will tell you it doesn't end there. David is a full-service entertainer
who delivers classic original material as well as crowd pleasing cover tunes.
Music Starts @ 8 pm. Admission Free!
**** SATURDAY AFTERNOON March 10 ****
"Adelante"
The Excelsior salsa band that won't quit. Suzanne Cortez keeps the music going with her all-star latin combo. Each performance is better than the last. Come see the neighborhood at it's very best.
Music Starts @ 2 pm. Admission Free!
Mamá is located in SF's Excelsior District. One of the most interesting and diverse neighborhoods in the city, considered by many to be "the last real San Francisco neighborhood" because of it's eclectic make-up and enthusiastic community spirit.
