Malo and friends celebrate four decades of music with their big 40th anniversary extravaganza.
Malo is one of the most successful and enduring Latin rock bands in the world. They have at least ten albums to their credit and continue to tour. Malo's biggest hit, "Suavecito" reached number 18 on the Billboard charts in April of 1972. They've played all over the world and have performed on the bill with the Rolling Stones and Queen. In 1997, along with Tierra and El Chicano, they recorded a live album called "Latin Legends Live." The three bands have toured extensively since as "Latin Legends."
Malo also gives back to the community by doing many benefits for schools and other good causes over the years.
Lava is an All-Star group lead by Bay Area Coguero Delbert Ojeda, who has studied under Pete Escovedo and Tam Saguyan. The group is made up of former and current players from Malo, Sapo, Mystics, La Ventana, Secrecy, Mystique, Los Mocosos and Orquesta Radiante. Featuring Mio "El Timbalero" Flores, the highly sought after bay area musician, this band brings the fire from London, Brazil, New York and France. Come feel the heat.
With a soulful voice and lyrics from the heart, singer songwriter Blanca Sandoval has captivated audiences. By means of an unrivaled sound that blends together her Latin musical roots with rock, funk, jazz, and up beat ballads, her bilingual style is extremely diverse and prepared to engage any crowd. Blanca is poised on the edge of stardom as the next great bilingual singer songwriter, truly a child of music, soulful, edgy and defiant.
