Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk November 7, 2009

Date: November 7th, 2009
Location: Tempe Beach Park
Time: Registration Opens: 7am Walk Begins: 8am

PARKING: The US Airways Parking lot (at 3rd St, West of Mill Ave) will be availalbe for Making Strides Participants. Also, the lightrail stops at ASU which is another great option and within walking distance from the park.

PLEASE PLAN ON CARPOOLING! There are a number of other events taking place on the 7th, so the less cars, the better!

ROUTE: The Making Strides Route is a 5k (approx 3.26 miles) along pavement and gravel. If you are unable to finish, we have a recovery van that can bring you back to the park. Please see the ROUTE MAP to help navigate your journey!

DOGS: Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. For dog friendly events, please call
1-800-ACS-2345!

REGISTRATION: The registration tent will be located just South of the restrooms at Tempe Beach Park. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE REGISTERED! If you have registered online, you do NOT need to stop by the registration tent, unless you are turning in donations. If you are not registered online, you will need to visit the tent to sign a paper registration form.

FUNDRAISING: Each participant is strongly encouraged to raise at least $100.00 to suppor the mission of the American Cancer Society. You can receive donations online, via cash, or check made payable to the American Cancer Society. Donations can be turned in at the registration tent at the event. Need ideas? FOOD / WATER: There will be water stops along the route for participants. There will be a VERY limited amount of snacks available, so we do encourage you to bring your own if you think you will need it!

CHILDREN: Children are more than welcome to join us at Strides! Stroller and wagons are acceptable :) Please note, however, that children need to be registered as well! This can be done online or at the event!

T-SHIRTS: Individual t-shirts will be available for $15 at the event. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is your opportunity to honor breast cancer survivors, remember people we have lost, and raise funds and awareness to help end this disease. Making Strides is not a race; it is a celebration of survivorship, an occasion to express hope, and a shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people we love.
