This passionate and witty film is a portrait of the fascinating, fevered and doomed marriage beween Gustav Mahler and wife Alma.
Adlon tells their story through the seriocomic lense of Sigmund Freud, whom the freaked-out Mahler consults in Amsterdam after discovering that Alma has had an affair with the young architect Walter Gropius
