Although trained as a pianist Gustav Mahler never composed music fot the piano as a solo instrument. However, his own versions of the accompaniment to most of his songs give sufficient evidence of a quite personal and close relation to the keyboard instrument.

Marialena Fernandes teaches chamber music at the University for Music and the Arts in Vienna. Ranko Markovic is artistic director of the Vienna Conservatory.

Fernandes and Markovic have been performing together since 2000. A special emphasis of their work lies on piano transscription of symphonies by Mahler and Bruckner.
