Join Hawai'i Music Award Winner Mahealani Uchiyama for an enchanting and lively evening of Hawaiian and Tahitian dance and music at Ashkenaz! With Ashley Wai'olu Moore, Hugh Humphrey, Aaron Sencil, and the dancers and drummers of Halau Ka Ua Tuahine. Mahealani describes her music as “sweet, soulful island sounds.” Her “island sounds” are everything from Tahitian ahuroa to reggae, blended with musical elements from Africa, including the mbira (thumb piano). She is accompanied by a full Tahitian drum orchestra, ukuleles, guitarists, a chorus, and colorfully costumed Polynesian dancers.
