In the past few years, exciting new results have been achieved on magnetotactic bacteria. New research tools have emerged, and significant progress has been made on both the biological and the mineralogical aspects of biomineralization. The time seems right to bring together researchers who are active in this field. This informal gathering is meant to provide an opportunity to present new results, exchange ideas, discuss current activities and plan future studies on magnetotactic bacteria.

Suggested Topics

  • cell biology

  • genetics and genomics

  • ecology and diversity

  • geobiology

  • mineralogy

  • paleomagnetism

  • magnetic microstructure

  • biotechnological applications of magnetosomes
