The Madison County Humane Society will be hosting their 7th annual dog walk-a-thon in honor of "Be Kind to Animals Week". We need volunteer walkers to make this event a success, so please come enjoy the trails at Shadyside Park with your pet and bring a friend! It is May 5th. Walk anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Following that we will crown a queen and king, have a kissing contest, costume contest, etc. This will be at Shadyside Park Main Pavilion off Broadway. Walkers can help raise money for the Humane Society by getting people to sponsor them with donations.

Any amount collected will be greatly appreciated. Walkers will turn in their money, sponsor sheet and signed waiver the day of the walk. Forms can be obtained at the Humane Society on 2219 Crystal Street or by calling 754-8432.

All proceeds benefit the Humane Society which is a no kill facility where homeless animals stay until they are adopted. Last year they took in 690 cats and dogs and adopted out 616 cats and dogs. It costs thousands of dollars to care for these homeless animals. The Humane Society is a non-profit organization and receives no taxmoney, thus volunteers and donations are needed for its survival. Also, the walker/s collecting the most money will receive a donated prize.
