Since 2005, Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School has been New York's premier venue for avant-guarde life-drawing. Instead sterile art school, at Dr. Sketchy's, artists are treated to a cocktail of burlesque models, booze, skits, mayhem and prizes.

On May 1st, Dr. Sketchy's will present Madame du Sketchy, its first queer session, with the glamourous drag queen Deja Davenport, handsome model Ian and Machine Dazzle of the Dazzle Dancers posing. Held at the sumptuous Fortune Cookie Cabaret at Lucky Chengs, attendees will also sharpen their pencils on art contests, competing for prizes from Sin in Linen, Babeland, Neighborhoodies and Queer Republic Tees.

Founded in Brooklyn two years ago by artist Molly Crabapple, Dr. Sketchy's now has 50 branches around the world, in cities includeing Hollywood, London, Paris, Rome, Tokyo and Melbourne. It has been covered in the LA Times, the Washington Post, Time Out New York, Time Out London, NPR, BBC Radio, The Onion AV Club, and the Associated Press. It has spawned a book, a pinup calendar, and a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
