The 18th annual Macintosh Computer Expo or MCE is held each year in Petaluma. Thousands of Macintosh enthusiasts come from all over the San Francisco Bay Area to visit with Macintosh product exhibitors and attend informational workshops. Since 1992 MCE has grown in attendance from a few hundred people to being the largest expo of its type in the Bay Area second only to Macworld Expo in San Francisco.

A great line up of well-known speakers this year include digital photo guru Derrick Story, digital artist Bert Monroy, Macworld magazine Senior Editor Chris Breen, iStockphoto chief evangelist and author Lesa Snider, Mac author Ted Landau, Mac Observer editors Byran Chaffin and Jeff Gamat, and many other Mac experts sharing their knowledge throughout the day on topics such as digital photography, using the cloud, Mac OS X trouble-shooting, and iPhone and iPad sessions.

On display this year will be Bert Monroy’s depiction of New York’s Times Square created totally in Adobe Photoshop. It is five feet by twenty five feet and contains over 3,000 images and untold layers of Bert’s creativity. Considered one of the preeminent pioneers of digital art, Bert will also be an afternoon speaker at the event describing how he created his Times Square project as well as offering tips and features of Adobe Photoshop.

With over twenty-five vendors showing their products and great raffle prizes, this year promises to be the place to be on a Saturday in October.

Raffle tickets: $5 each or a booklet of 5 for $20. Tons of raffle items and the ticket for the grand prize (an iPad) donated by Mac Video Training will be pulled at 4:30. Winners do not need to be present to win.

The Mac Computer Expo (MCE) is presented by the North Coast Mac Users Group (NCMUG) a non-profit organization who for over 25 years has been dedicated to teaching and promoting the Apple Macintosh.
