In this lecture for trained craftspeople, skilled machinist Anne Lilly shows a video of her kinetic sculpture and talks about the crossover between industrial machining and machining for craft professionals. Lilly is a kinetic sculptor who uses carefully engineered motion to shift and manipulate our perception of time and space. Her highly ordered and precisely constructed interactive sculptures move in strikingly organic, fluid and mesmeric ways. Lilly was nominated for the 2010 James and Audrey Foster Prize of Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art.
