An accomplished solo artist in his own right, saxophone legend Maceo Parker has backed up all the major funk performers from James Brown to George Clinton. He also has played with such young funksters as De La Soul and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. While Soulive has its roots in the soul-jazz tradition, the band is breaking new ground thanks to its ability to branch out into hip-hop and dub.
