LYRIC OPERA LECTURES @ EVANSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Evanston Public Library’s annual series of Lyric Opera lectures kicks off at the Main Library on Saturday, September 15, at 2 p.m., with a lecture by Larry Lapidus on Guiseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. Paris’s most sought-after courtesan finds true love, but turmoil brews when her lover’s father begs Violetta to give him up to save the family name. Lyric Opera lectures are presented at the Main Library, 1703 Orrington Avenue in downtown Evanston, on Saturdays at 2 p.m. throughout the season. Lectures are presented on Tuesdays at Noon at Evanston’s North Branch Library, 2026 Central Street. The lecture on La Traviata will be repeated on Tuesday, September 18, at Noon by Barbara Roseman at North Branch.
