It’s Not Big It’s Large, Lyle Lovett’s newest release and his first in four years, finds this acclaimed Texas singer/songwriter blurring genres as he loves to do and does so well. Ranging from fervent country swing through gospel blues, Lovett seems to be in a decidedly introspective mood as he celebrates his 50th year. While contemplating notions of mortality, loss, and the fluidity of time may sound like heavy going, it’s Lovett’s gift to make deep thoughts slide down like honey.
