Lust For Life: Louis Grant - Arthur K Miller

Lust for Life, is an exhibition that speaks to the complexities of personal and public identity. The show features two artists who have exhibited extensively in group shows at George Krevsky Gallery, Louis Grant, and Arthur K Miller. Grant paints scenes of family and friends, snapshots of special times. His artworks tap into a collective memory of African American culture, depict the spirit of another time, and convey timeless dignity. Miller explores Pop Icons in the finely tuned spotlight of Hollywood for all eyes to see. His masterful portraits reflect the photorealistic tradition of Robert Cottingham and Richard McLean.

Louis Grant was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1934. An artist from an early age, Grant attended New York's High School of Art and Design before going on to study at Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. After serving in the US Army in Germany from 1957 to 1959, Grant established a long career as a graphic designer and illustrator. In 1998 he returned to the studio, concentrating on his painting full-time.

Arthur K. Miller graduated with honors from New York City's School of Visual Arts, and subsequently opened a graphic design studio in New York, illustrating album covers and promotions for Broadway shows and movies. A New Jersey native now living in Maine, Miller has painted for over 15 years at his beachside studio. Miller's artworks have been exhibited extensively with the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown, New York, OK Harris Gallery in SoHo, and George Krevsky Gallery in San Francisco.
