The National Heritage Boards brings to you an exhibition on how the Lunar New Year is celebrated by Chinese in Singapore as well as other parts of the world. Learn about the origins, practices and customs of the festival, and more about a typical reunion dinner with traditional New Year dishes and the symbolism behind each. Also find out more about 2013, the Year of the Snake, such as the role of the snake in Chinese mythology and the zodiac as well as its role in regional and global cultures, the myths associated with snakes and other interesting facts about snakes in Singapore.

On 26 and 27 Jan, children can also learn how to write calligraphy on Chinese velvet lanterns or Chinese silk fans.
