Lukas Ligeti and Colleen In Concert May 17, 2008

As part of Merkin Concert Hall’s Fast Forward series, two of today’s top contemporary artists join hands for the first time for a one-night only collage of multi-genre and experimental music. Featuring composer/percussionist Lukas Ligeti on electronic Marimba Lumina and French composer/multi-instrumentalist Colleen on her favored electric viola de gamba, the program showcases both solo works and new collaborative, improvisational pieces. The colorful fusion of Ligeti’s disparate elements of African polyrhythms with Colleen’s mesmerizing, melodic qualities conjures up an infectious cross-cultural sound.
