But Souza brings something more to that great tradition in her art—an emotional clarity and honesty of the sort that gives one goose bumps. She is a marvelous, gripping communicator that restores one’s faith in the power of subtlety. Joining Ms. Souza are the ebullient, agile guitarist Romero Lubambo and the wildly inventive percussion guru Cyro Baptista.
