Brazilian singer, musician, and composer Luciana Souza is equally comfortable singing jazz, the bossa nova and samba standards of her homeland, and the new operas of Osvaldo Golijov. Singing in both Portuguese and English, Souza first captivated U.S. listeners when she recorded and toured with Danilo Pérez’ Pan-American “Motherland Project.” Working with her piano trio, Souza puts her unique omni-cultural stamp on the timeless jazz standards of such singers as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.
