This year, The Lowell Thomas Awards will celebrate those explorers who have exhibited an extraordinary capacity to transcend traditional comfort zones to undertake expeditions that benefit us all. WANDRIAN ADVENTURES - GOVERNORS ISLAND EXCURSION
Wandrian Adventures has planned a day trip to Governors Island for Saturday, October 13th, 2012 to coincide with the Lowell Thomas Dinner. Come enjoy this quiet oasis sitting in New York City harbor, just a short boat ride from the Financial District with views of the Statue of Liberty. There will be a private reception including lunch and transportation which will focus on the Oyster Restoration in New York Harbor by New York City Youth, including a presentation led by Murray Fisher, Founder of New York Harbor School and President of New York Harbor Foundation.

The day includes:
A tour of the school
A tour of the island
A tour of the Brooklyn Navy Yard where students are growing oysters
Lunch and transportation
