Los Straitjackets and Laika & The Cosmonauts October 22, 2008

Los Straitjackets' live shows are legendary for their left-right combination of offhand chops, unashamed choreography, and serious humor. Taking a cue from the lucha libre (Mexican wrestling) masks that they have worn since their 1994 inception, Los Straitjackets have now applied their brand of guitar-fueled, instrumental sturm und twang to their first Spanish language album, Rock en Espanol.

Laika & The Cosmonauts was founded in Finland in 1987, but the instrumental band's popularity really took off after their music was introduced into the US, where they became legendary among the surf/garage/punk/alternative set for their otherworldly instrumental albums and mesmerizing live shows.
